The Andrija Stampar Summer School is proud to announce that professor Dr. Jose M. Martin-Moreno will be it's 2019 course director

Jose Martin Moreno

Jose M Martin-Moreno has academic degrees awarded by the University of Granada (MD, PhD) and by Harvard University (MPH, DrPH), and extensive experience in the fields of medicine, public health and healthcare management.

 

With over 300 publications, he has held important positions at both national and international levels. In Spain, he has successively been Director of the National School of Public Health and the Chief Medical Officer & Director-General of Public Health at the Ministry of Health (1995-2004). Internationally, he served as Director of Programme Management at the World Health Organization’s Regional Office for Europe (2010-2012). He also was President of the Association of Schools of Public Health in the European Region (1999-2001) and was awarded by ASPHER itself (at the European Public Health Conference 2013 in Brussels) with the prestigious “Andrija Stampar Medal to a distinguished person for excellence in the field of Public Health.” He has also collaborated in different technical and scientific committees, including for the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC), the European Commission, the European Observatory on Health Systems and Policies, and the Science and Technology Options Assessment Office (STOA) of the European Parliament.

 

His main current professional responsibilities are Professor of Preventive Medicine & Public Health and Director of the MPH Programme at the University of Valencia, and Head of the Clinical Education & Training Unit at the University Clinical Hospital of Valencia. Finally, and in a complementary way, he is a member of the Spain’s Royal Academy of Medicine, and a Senior Adviser to the Division of Health Systems and Public Health of the WHO Regional Office for Europe.
